KIT — Privacy Policy

            The short version: KIT only checks when you last messaged someone — it never reads what was said. Your data stays on your phone. We don't collect, store, or transmit anything.
        

What KIT does

KIT (Keep In Touch) helps you stay connected with the people who matter. You add contacts, set a silence threshold, and KIT automatically sends a check-in message via SMS — or reminds you to reach out via WhatsApp — if you haven't been in touch recently.

What data KIT accesses

KIT requests the following Android permissions:

READ_SMS — To check the timestamp of your last message with each contact. KIT queries only the date and phone number columns from your SMS database. Message content (the body of your texts) is never read, accessed, or stored.
SEND_SMS — To send check-in messages to your chosen contacts on your behalf, from your own phone number.
READ_CONTACTS — To help you select contacts to add to KIT.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) — To send you reminders when it's time to check in with a WhatsApp contact.

What KIT does NOT do

            KIT never reads message content — only timestamps
KIT never uploads your data anywhere — everything stays on your device
KIT has no server, no cloud, no analytics
KIT never shares data with third parties
KIT contains no ads and no tracking

        

Data storage

All data — your contact list, settings, check-in messages, and activity log — is stored locally on your device using Android's on-device storage. Nothing leaves your phone. If you uninstall KIT, all data is deleted automatically.

SMS sending

When KIT sends a check-in message, it uses your device's native SMS capability. The message is sent from your own phone number, as if you typed and sent it yourself. Standard carrier messaging rates may apply.

WhatsApp integration

For WhatsApp contacts, KIT does not send messages automatically. Instead, it shows you a notification with the check-in message. Tapping the notification opens WhatsApp with the message pre-filled — you choose whether to send it. KIT cannot read WhatsApp conversations.

Children's privacy

KIT is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use of KIT after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
